- Wildlife Watching. One
of the top destinations on Vancouver Island for wildlife watching tours. Both self guided and guided tours operate from Tofino. Wildlife in the region
include Grey, Humpback and Killer Whales ( Orcas ), Black Bears, Bald Eagles, Sea Lions, Porpoises, Red Tail Hawks
and other marine, land and air wildlife.
- Beachcombing. The region around Tofino has the best selection of sandy beaches on Vancouver Island. They are easily accessible and there are many of them. Beaches range from small and private like Schooner Cove to large and busy like Long Beach, MacKenzie Beach and Chesterman Beach.
- Ocean
Fishing. Salmon and halibut fishing is enjoyed in the region. There are fishing charters and guides located in the community. There are boat launches for people who bring their own boat in tow. Guiding companies supply
all the gear and sometimes lunches. Must purchase
a fishing licence to fish in British Columbia.
- Boating. The Tofino
region is a popular destination for boat cruises. Departing from Tofino provides many opportunities to access remote destinations like the Broken
Islands Group, Barclay Sound and Clayoquot
Sound .
- Spa. Some of the bigger resorts have west coast spas. Spa packages range from the basic to deluxe. Resorts provide accommodation packages with spa treatments included.
- Hiking. There are a few short hiking trails in Tofino and there are more trails to explore in the Pacific Rim National Park located south of the community. Trails range from short access trails leading to beaches like Tonquin Bay to long boardwalk trails exploring a rainforest like the Nuu-chah-nulth Trail.
- Flightseeing Tours. From the harbour in Tofino there are floatplane tours leaving regularly to remote islands in the region. Tours transport people to remote hiking trails, resorts and even some hot springs.
- Surfing. Tofino is a hot spot for surfing in Canada. There are many beaches in the region attracting surfers to the area like Long Beach, Chesterman Beach, Wickaninnish Beach and Cox Bay. In Tofino are many local surf shops providing lessons and equipment.
- Sea Kayaking: Self guided kayak tours and guided ocean kayaking tours depart from Tofino Harbour. Guided tours provide lessons and equipment. Some provide accommodations and meals. There are day trips to Meares Island and overnight tours exploring Clayoquot

- Hot
Springs Cove. Access via a 1 - 1.5 hour boat cruise or aboard a 20 minute floatplane ride.
On arrival there is a short hiking trail that leads
to Hot Springs Cove. The boardwalk
trail is 2 kilometres long leading to cascading hot
pools at Hot Spring Cove.
- Cougar Annie's Garden. Ada
Annie Rae-Arthur loved her privacy. She started what is today, one of the best collections
of plants from all across Canada.
There are gardens, trails the Temperate Rainforest Field Study Centre. Cougar Annie's
Garden is accessed by boat or floatplane only.
- Storm Watching. Winter season brings big storms. The waves crash the shore throwing debris and logs in the air. Accommodations in the region provide rain gear and rubber boats. You provide the video camera.
