Kennedy Lake Provincial Park
is a fresh water lake located in-between Tofino
and Ucluelet, BC, Canada. The lake park is over 379 hectares
and enjoys two day picnic sites on the south end of the
lake, a recreational campsite on the southern tip of Clayoquot
Arm and the lake provides boating and kayaking access
to the Clayoquot Arm Provincial Park.
The
larger day use site at Kennedy Lake is located on the
south east side of the lake and includes a sandy beach
area, picnic tables, a closed in swimming area with a
floating platform, pit toilets, a boat launch and day
use campsites. Parking is limited and many park on the
side of Hwy #4.
The smaller day use site has one picnic table, a parking
lot with plenty of parking, pit toilets and a boat launch.
Although the marine views are captivating from the rock
outcroppings at this day site, it is still mainly used
as a boat launch. The smaller day use area is located
on the southern tip of the fresh water lake.
If
not enjoying the day use sites, then most are on the lake
boating or kayaking. Kennedy Lake is an ideal destination
to launch a boat for water skiing, tubing, sightseeing,
fishing or venturing out on a scouting mission for a private
beach on the lake, in a private cove, and have a picnic.
Kayakers and canoeist explore Kennedy Lake for the many
bays, coves, islands and waterways. There is some wilderness
camping on Kennedy Lake for kayakers at the designated
sites. The wind can pick up in the middle portions of
Kennedy Lake so it can get choppy with lake swells developing.
How to get to Kennedy Lake: When arriving
to Tofino or Ucluelet from Port Alberni along Hwy #4,
the large lake on your right hand side before the Tofino/Ucluelet
T-intersection turn-off is Kennedy Lake. The day use areas
are well marked by road signs along Hwy #4.
