Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada is year round tourism destination with an incredible summer and winter adventure season. Sun and warmth in the summer. Snow and ocean storms in the winter. It is the best of both worlds.

During the summer months visitors explore both land and sea when visiting Vancouver Island. Some escape to the sandy beaches, lakes, forests, mountains and rivers for recreation while others explore the ocean and lakes visiting bays, coves and more islands.

On Vancouver Island the summer adventure season runs from April to late September. The peak months being June, July and August.

There are two ways to enjoy the many summer activities enjoyed on Vancouver Island. They are (1) self guided adventures and (2) guided tours.

Self guided adventures are everywhere and in every community. There are parks, hiking trails, birdwatching viewpoints, sandy beaches, mountain peaks, river valleys, remote lakes and so much more to discover. Just plan it and go.

If you are experienced in a particular activity and bring along your own equipment like a bike, kayak, boat, canoe, scuba gear or surf board - then the adventures will just keep adding up and you better stay awhile.

Some of the summer activities enjoyed on the island include golfing, wine touring, kayaking, cycling, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, backpacking, fishing, boating, hang gliding, sailing, scuba diving, birdwatching, camping, surfing, canoeing and off roading.

Guided tours operate in many of the communities on Vancouver Island. There are both marine and land guiding companies. Tours provide an interpretive guide, lessons, equipment and experience. Multi day guided tours usually provide meals and accommodations.

Some of the more popular guided tours include wildlife and whale watching tours, kayaking tours, boat tours, garden tours and fishing charters. There are also remote resorts with accommodations providing scuba diving, fishing and kayaking adventure get-a-ways.
