Salt water fishing and fresh water fishing are popular activities on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Fishing has been a main source of trade and food on the island since the early days of the the First Nation people. Many of the coastal communities have been fishing villages or trading
posts dating back to the early 1900's. So fishing is in our blood.
Fishing charters, fish guides and fishing lodges operate along the coastline of Vancouver Island and throughout the surrounding west coast islands. There are services like marinas, boat launches, pubs and marine shops located up and down the coastline to service the marine crowds.
All fishing charters provide a boat, fishing equipment, lessons and a guide. Depending on the amount of time fishing on the water guides will provide a lunch and an unlimited supply of hot coffee.
The fishing operators provide a wide selection of services. There are some fishing charters operating as fishing lodges or fish camps which may include additional servcies like accommodations, transportation, storage freezers, restaurants, pubs, entertainment and fish preparation stations.

Island is seasonal. Fish move and migrate back and forth like most wildlife. There are fishing seasons opening and closing. There are limits to how many you can catch and keep. All who fish in British Columbia are required to purchase a fishing licence. There are stiff penalties for abusing your fishing privaledges.
When arriving for a fishing charter please prepare properly prior to your arrival. The weather changes quickly on the west coast. Prepare yourself by bringing some rain gear (some charters provide rain gear), boots, layered clothing, warm hats and gloves.
