Mill Bay

Mill Bay is located in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The waterfront village is located at the base of Malahat Mountain enjoying great views of the Gulf Islands and the Saanich Peninsula.

Mill Bay is the first community north of Victoria on Highway #1 (Malahat Hwy) when traveling south-to-north on Vancouver Island. From Mill Bay visitors can easily access the whole Cowichan Valley, Sidney and Victoria.

There are services available in Mill Bay important to travelers. Some of the services include accommodations like B&Bs, Cottages and Motels and other day-to-day services like gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, a post office, internet, banks and a grocery store.

Recreation in the area includes such activities like ocean kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating, sightseeing and hiking. Spectacle Lake Park is a one of the more popular hiking and canoeing destinations near Mill Bay.

The community is close to many of the Cowichan Valley wineries and vineyards, the fishing village of Cowichan Bay and the recreation lake in Shawnigan Lake. Mill Bay is also the location of a BC Ferry Terminal connecting the Cowichan Valley with Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Peninsula near the city of Victoria.

How to get to Mill Bay: 

Travel Highway #1 (Malahat Hwy) for 48 kilometres (28 mi) from Victoria to Mill Bay BC. Alternate route avoids driving over Malahat Mountain via a BC Ferry. There is a BC Ferry Terminal in Mill Bay connecting to Brentwood Bay. The BC Ferry crossing time is 25 minutes covering a distance of 8 kilometres (5 mi).
