South Cowichan Valley
The South Cowichan Valley in located on South Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The valley includes the villages of Mill Bay, Cowichan Bay, Shawnigan Lake and Cobble Hill.
The countryside is decorated with wineries, vineyards, farm fields, orchards, red barns, lakes, ranches and forests.
The ocean waterfront in the valley is dotted with piers, docks, pleasure boats, fishing vessels, sail boats, ship building warehouses, boat houses, kayaks, marinas and float homes.
The South Cowichan Valley is, however, best known as Wine Country. There are many wineries and vineyards in the region producing quality wines and ciders. The Cowichan Valley Wine Route is a good way to explore and visit with many of the wineries.
Some of the activities enjoyed in the South Cowichan Valley include swimming, kayaking, boating, sailing, golfing, scuba diving, hiking, fishing, canoeing, water skiing, jet skiing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
The South Cowichan Valley enjoys a very good selection of accommodations for visitors. There are motels, cottages and bed and breakfasts. A very high percentage of the accommodations in the valley are bed and breakfasts.
Each village has a selection of services. Some more than others. There are gift boutiques, outdoor cafes, antique
shops, artisan studios, gas stations, banks, grocery stores, restaurants, retail shops and tour companies. |
