Cowichan Bay
Cowichan Bay is located on the waterfront in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The small village is a popular sightseeing destination with an active marine environment and atmosphere.
The community of Cowichan Bay is a working fishing village with a marina, docks, piers, boat building warehouses, wave barriers, float homes and a unique selection of stores and shops.
There are boats and kayaks coming and going. Some boats and kayaks set out to explore the nearby Gulf Islands and the many coves and bays located up and down the coastline of Vancouver Island. Other boats are planning a day of fishing for salmon and/or halibut.
The busy marine environment and the selection of unique businesses attracts many to the village for sightseeing. The services in Cowichan Bay include restaurants, wildlife tours, guides, gift shops, accommodations and general retail stores.
Up on the hill behind the village are many residential homes. Further inland, behind the homes, are farm fields, wineries and vineyards. Cowichan Bay is on the Cowichan Valley Wine Tour Route.

How to get to Cowichan Bay:
Travel Highway #1 (Malahat Hwy) for 48 kilometres (28 mi) from Victoria to Mill Bay BC. From Mill Bay continue traveling on Hwy #1 north. On your right look for the Cowichan Bay Exit. Follow the road to the village. Cowichan Bay is 55 kilometres (34 mi) north of Victoria BC. |
