Lighthouse Country including the main village of Qualicum Bay is located only a short 20-25 minute drive north of Qualicum Beach, BC.

Qualicum Bay, Deep Bay and Bowser communities - Lighthouse Country - is named after the lighthouses on Sisters Island which is south of Chrome Island and Denman Island hence referred to as the Lighthouse Country district. Qualicum Bay, BC is the main village with mini golf, camping resorts and seaside inns lining the coastline.

Lighthouse Country is a destination point for many outdoor activities like hiking, birdwatching and relaxing. Some of the best scuba diving of the area is off the shores of Qualicum Bay. Kayakers are seen paddling for destinations unknown from many coastline launching points. The ocean waters are speckled with sailing and fishing enthusiasts. Not far from Qualicum Bay, BC is the Horne Lake Caves and the hiking, swimming and rock climbing adventures found at exploring Horne and Spider Lake.

Nearby, a short drive south of Qualicum Bay in Parksville is Rathtrevor Beach . A chance to play in the sand at low tide building castles. Englishman River Falls and Little Qualicum Falls are some waterfall parks with groomed paths leading over wooden bridges looking down at crashing waterfalls surrounded by forests (best season is late winter and early spring when water levels are the highest).

Take some time to visit the Horne Lake Caves for a day of spelunking, exploring middle earth. A family trip to Coombs Village, west of Parksville, where there is a mini theme park with a ferris wheel, train ride and mini golf is a must see. For the adults, eclectic art galleries and unique restaurants with goats living on the roof.



How to Get Here:  Qualicum Bay, Deep Bay and Bowser

Qualicum Bay is approximately only 175 km north of Victoria, BC. Qualicum Bay is north of Qualicum Beach which is only 10 km (6 mi) from the seaside community of Parksville BC. From Parksville, BC it is suggested to follow Hwy 19A (Oceanside Route) on your way to Qualicum Bay , better views. The Inland Hwy (Hwy 19) misses these views. The Oceanside Route enjoys beautiful oceanside views, beaches and the small villages of French Creek with the ferry to Lasqueti Island, Deep Bay and Bowser.
