Parksville BC

Parksville, BC is a sandy beach community located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The village is central on the island close to many major beaches, unique attractions, golf courses and other recreational activities.

The Village of Parksville is situated on 5 kilometres of waterfront. The village streets are lined with quaint shops and stores - many stores are decorated in pastel colours. Some dress up with flower baskets hanging over the doorway. Others enjoy sidewalk gardens maintained by the city. All the effort makes for a colorful and pretty village.

Located just south of town is another beach in Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park. It is another popular destination with a very large campground.

Both sandy beaches excel at low tides. It is at low tides when the ocean waters recede back about 900 metres revealing many kilometres of smooth wet sand. The retreating tides expose tidal pools, stranded marine life and shells. The water is warm, heated by the sand, and only measures up to your knees for what seems forever. A beachcombers dream.

Many activities are popular in Parksville. Some of the activities enjoyed in the region include golfing, hiking, beachcombing, fishing, arts, caving, kayaking, sailing, boating, birdwatching, scuba diving, beach volleyball and mountain biking. An early start and one could golf 2 courses a day easily.

Parksville is central to many different types of day trips. Travel west and there is the eclectic community of Coombs. Continue west and one can visit the monster trees in Cathedral Grove Park.
