Vancouver Island Morton Lake Provincial Park
Morton Lake Provincial Park is a drive-in
fresh water lake destination exploring forests of Douglas Fir
trees while encountering wildlife exploring the backroads and
gravel roads on the north end of Vancouver Island. But
the destination is a prize and well worth the off roading as there is
two lakes - Morton and Mohun lake.
Any fresh water fisherman of the area will tell you that
a trip out to Morton Lake Provincial Park to catch a
Rainbow, Cutthroat or Dolly Varden Trout at the neighbouring
Mohun Lake is well worth the trip. Fishing licenses are
a must and fishing season is open from April to June and September to
October. Boat launch is at Mohun Lake.
Morton Lake Provincial Park is 74 hectares
in size including Morton Lake and a piece of Mohun
Lake. There is a small campsite on Morton Lake
with minimal amenities but Morton Lake does have a large
day-use/picnic area, located at west end of the lake.
Morton Lake Provincial Park is a very
popular lake destination, with a sandy beach and an unusually warm lake
conditions. Visitors come from all over to this wilderness sandy secluded
beach to soak up the sun and wilderness sounds. Facilities include picnic
tables, a parking area, two change houses, pit toilets and an information
shelter.
Mohun Lake in Morton Lake Provincial
Park is a popular destination for water craft exploration. Every
year many kayakers and canoes travel
the gravel roads to explore Morton and Mohun Lakes. The
truly adventurous kayakers come to the Provincial Park
because experienced kayakers know exploring on Mohun
Lake is the doorway to the 47 kilometre trek called the Sayward
Canoe and Portage Circuit. Contact the Ministry of Forests for

How to get to Morton Lake Provincial
Park
Morton Lake Provincial Park is near the
Campbell River and Sayward communities.
Morton Lake Provincial Park is located a short 27 km
drive northwest from Campbell River into the Sayward
forest back country.Morton Lake is reached via
Hwy 19. North of Campbell River just past the Elk
Falls Pulp Mill drivers must turn off at the Menzies Main logging
road. Follow the gravel dirt roads for 12 km, then take Morton
Lake Road turn off for another 7 km till you reach Morton
Lake.
