Carmanah Walbran Valley Park. A wilderness park with day hikes and backpacking adventures. The 16,450 hectare recreation park accounts for 2% of the "Old Growth Forest" still standing in the province of British Columbia. [ more information ]

Cowichan River Park. The 1, 414 hectare park is a popular recreation park for
swimming, tubing, hiking, backpacking, picnicking, fishing, river kayaking, birdwatching and wilderness camping. [ more information ] |

Gordon Bay Park. The park includes a large campground and a sandy beach. The 51 hectare park is popular for swimming,
water skiing, boating, jet skiing, camping, wind surfing, sun tanning, houseboating and canoeing.

- Nitinat River Park. The parks is undeveloped. There are some roughed-in hiking trails in the park leading to waterfalls, spawning pools, sandy beaches and swimming holes. The activities enjoyed include fishing, backpacking, wilderness camping, swimming, tubing, picnicking and hiking. [ more information ]

- 66 Mile Trail. 8 mile loop trail along the Cowichan River through canyons. Highlight is the 66 mile trestle. Located off of Hwy #18 on Skutz Falls
Rd. Look for trailhead marker.

- Akela's Trail. A hike trekking through
rainforests with plenty of different flora and wildlife. Access the
trailhead from Marble Bay Rd. off of North Shore Road in Lake Cowichan.

- Beaver Walk. An 8 km walk
following Cowichan Lake under the shadows of Mount Baldy.
The hike contains many lake views and forested areas. Access from
the trailhead on Marble Bay Rd. off of North Shore
Road

- Denninger Scout Trail. A difficult hike
up Mt Baldy for 8.8 kilometres. The summit is 629 m. with picnic tables at the top.

the trailhead located on Marble Bay Rd. off of North Shore Road.

- Holt Creek Trail. A
comfortable walking trail along the Cowichan River leads to a
viewpoint at the Holt Creek Trestles. Located off of Hwy #18 on
Skutz Falls Rd.

- Lake Loop Drive. A friving route around Cowichan Lake. It is a 75 kilometre loop route
( 49 mi.) traveling on paved and gravel logging roads. The route is heavily used by logging trucks so keep headlights
on, slow down and pull over if necessary.

- Old Wolf's Hill Lookout. Uphill hiking trail to viewpoints. Access from the trailhead located on Marble Bay Rd. off of North
Shore Road. It is part of the beginning of the Denninger Scout
Trail on Baldy Mountain.

- Spring Beach. Swimming hole and
some moderate hiking trails to explore. Located on Meade Creek
Rd. in Lake Cowichan.

- Sutton Creek Wildflower Reserve. A hiking trail exploring fields of wildflowers.

- Trans Canada Trail. The Lake Cowichan section of the TCT
follows along some old railway tracks,
leading across some bridges and provides views of some trestles thus connecting Lake Cowichan
to Glenora in Duncan.

- Venturers Challenge Trail. Extremely difficult
5 kilometre round trip hike up Mount Baldy. The wilderness experience itself is definitely worth the
effort. Access from the trailhead located on Marble Bay Rd. off
of North Shore Road.
