Crest Creek Cragg.The local climbing communities maintain and review the climbing routes on a regular basis. Routes include some expert climbs for the daring and some easy routes for the beginner. [ more information ] |

Nootka Island Trail.The Nootka Island Trail is over 35 kilometres long (22mi.). The backpacking wilderness trail explores along the coastline of the island visiting with private coves, sandy beaches, wetlands, rugged points and jagged cliffs. [ more information ] |

Upana Caves. An underground adventure surrounded by honeycombed limestone rock. There are, both, easily accessible caves and extreme caves. The harder, deeper caves should only be attempted by expert cavers with the proper equipment and skills. [ more information ] |

Star Lake.The small lake is a wilderness recreation destination situated in the back country forests located south of the community. The lake is an adventure destination for fishing, canoeing, swimming and picnicking. [ more information ] |

Strathcona Park.A 500,000 acre wilderness park. Strathcona Provincial Park is Vancouver Island's biggest park and British Columbia's oldest park. Hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and caving is enjoyed in the park. [ more information ] |

Elk Falls. A hiking and picnicking day use park with waterfalls, trails and rivers. Elk, Moose and Deer Waterfalls are located along the Campbell River. The Provincial Park enjoys a vast network of hiking trails located along the Campbell and Quinsam Rivers. [ more information ] |
Captain Cook Monument. A Brass plaque
was erected in 1903 on Nootka Island to remember the first meeting between the First Nations people and the Europeans. |

Crest Mountain Trail. A 5 kilometre trail
reaching an elevation of over 1100 metres. Trail and bridges lead hikers to a lookout with fantastic valley views. Located 9 kilometres
from Gold River traveling east on Hwy #28. |

Big Bend Trail. A picnic
area on the shores of the Gold River. Next
door are the fairways and greens of the local golf
course. Located on Hwy #19 south of Gold River village. |

Elk River Trail. A 11 kilometre trail exploring along the banks of the Elk River. The trail leads you to Landslide Lake. Access from
Hwy #28 near Drum Lakes. |

Golden Hinde Mountain. The highest
mountain on Vancouver Island at an elevation
of 2,200 metres with views of Strathcona Park and Burman Lake. Follow Hwy #28 east from Gold River and enter Strathcona Park. |

Gold Lake Trail. A fairly easy
walking trail through lush, ancient rainforest. Opportunity
to view wildlife is exceptional. The 5 km. trail leads explorers to
Mount Tyee and Gold Lake. |

Scout Lake. A hiking trail in the village of Gold River leads explorers to the lake. Access from
the water tower at the north end of Muchalat Drive. |
