The downtown core is centrally
located on the east side of Comox Harbour near Cape Lazo enabling
quick access to some of the more popular year round attractions
and activities in the region. Comox
Village and the surrounding
regions is a prime outdoor
recreational destination for hiking, kayaking, beach combing,
boating, scuba, and biking because of the wilderness environment
found mostly throughout the 40+ parks located in the Comox Valley
area.
For example, Mount
Washington, in nearby Strathcona
Park, is a popular destination in the winter for snow skiing
and snow boarding. It is Vancouver Islands largest ski hill. The
summer months the park attracts the backpackers, hikers and mountain
bikers to the area.
In Comox, BC, the Filberg
Heritage Park and Lodge is a central location often used for art
shows, special events and concerts. The Canadian Air Force base,
19 Wing Comox, is a short drive from the Comox city centre. Located
at the Comox base is an aviation museum. The drive into Comox
Village passes by Airport Park which is a fine couple of hours
spent outdoors walking or roller blading a paved pathway exploring
a bird sanctuary. Many wildlife viewing benches on this popular
route.

of the area include golfing, boating, kayaking, road biking, mountain

How to get to Comox: Arriving
from the south Vancouver Island, travel Highway 19A to Courtenay,
BC. Continue through Courtenay, following signs to Comox
(19A) by traveling over a small bridge and then turning right
towards Comox. Arriving from the north, Port
Hardy Vancouver Island, travel Highway 19A south past Campbell
River, Saratoga
Beach and Merville into Comox. From the Comox
Valley it is a very short drive to the communities of Cumberland,
Merville, Black Creek, and Saratoga Beach. For the more adventurous,
there is the full day trips to the west coast rural island’s
of Hornby
and Cortes
Island via a BC Ferry ride just south of the Comox Valley.
