Askew Creek Park and Trail. Askew Park is a small, forested park and wilderness trail located in the heart of Chemainus, BC, Canada in the Cowichan Valley. The park and wilderness trail are popular for hiking, walking , picnicking and birdwatching. Along the recreation trail, hidden in the trees, are song birds always singing , always chirping. The short 0.5 to 1 kilometre wilderness trail follows the banks of Askew Creek. The hiking and walking route explores a forest of second growth and old growth trees. Most of the trees that make up the forest are Douglas Fir and Hemlock. As you get closer to the ocean and town centre there are some cedar and arbutus trees. The route is a popular trail for accessing downtown Chemainus. The creek originates from Chemainus Lake (west of the village) and then weaves and winds its way east to the ocean. At the corner of Chemainus Road and Oak Street there is a good access point for the Askew Wilderness Trail. How to Get to Askew Creek Park and Trail. Travel to the community of Chemainus, BC on Vancouver Island. From Chemainus Road ( main road in community) travel to and park near Oak Street. From the junction there is an access trailhead just ahead. |
