Oyster River Oyster River, BC is located 15 minutes south of Campbell River, BC on Highway #19A (Oceanside Route) on Vancouver Island, Canada. It is home to a small community with outdoor recreational beaches, beach front accommodations, a golf course, restaurants, gas stations, grocery store, hiking trails, ocean park and pubs. On the northern boundaries of Oyster River is Oyster Bay Park. A small park with a sandy beach, picnic tables, pit toilets and birdwatching opportunities. At low tide a sand bar is exposed enabling people to walk out to the point. When visiting the area it is the pebbled and sandy beaches covered in driftwood that attract many to the region. During the summer months it is very easy to find a private spot on the beach for reading a book and beachcombing. Oyster River is named after the river in the area. The river originates from Pearl Lake near Buttle Lake which is near the community of Gold River, BC. The river is a popular fishing, camping and swimming adventure destination. Further up the river is the Oyster River Estuary. The estuary is a good spot to visit during the spawning season as many Salmon return to the river every year.
